Located in the north-east corner of the Millsmont neighborhood in the Oakland foothills, Burckhalter elementary serves a primarily residential community. There is easy access available to other East Oakland students who can arrive by way of I-580 to the north and by 73rd Avenue leading up from Eastmont. The school also enjoys a clear view of the Leona Regional Open-Space Preserve in the Hills above.
