The Longfellow site is located near the border between Oakland and Emeryville by the intersection of 40th Street & Market Street. OUSD is currently leasing the site to the Oakland Military Institute charter school program. The area is mostly residential with a small number of businesses and stores, but it is just 3 blocks east to the MacArthur BART Station, and 3 blocks west to the East Bay Bridge Shopping Center in Emeryville. The area has access to a number of convenient public transportation options, and is also very near the CA-24 and I-580 highways.
