Peralta is located in the north of Oakland near the city's border with Berkeley. The surrounding neighborhood, Fairview Park, is primarily residential, although a few blocks to the west is Telegraph Avenue and several blocks east is College Avenue, each of which is heavily commercial. Peralta benefits from an actively involved community that supports the physical imporvement of the school facilities and school culture with volunteer projects and periodic events on campus.
