The Simmons Middle School site is situated on 35th Avenue along the eastern edge of the Fruitvale District in Central Oakland. The campus hosts two separate OUSD programs--United for Success, and Life Academy-- and features a large, venerable auditorium with well-maintained, original seating and floors. The surrounding neighborhood is largely residential, with Peralta Hacienda Historical Park to the north and commercial development along Foothill Boulevard to the south.
