The Fremont High School site is located at the intersection of High Street & Foothill Boulevard in Central Oakland at the western edge of the Fairfax District. The makeup of the site's surroundings is very mixed. The area to the north of Foothill is heavily residential most of the way up to I-580, but to the south are 3 major commercial avenues; Foothill, Bancroft, and International. A ways further south, beyond International, the area transitions into industrial uses with warehouses, traintracks, and manufacturing dominating the landscape.
